Internship: Artistic Programming

Mudam Luxembourg – Museum of Modern Art Grand-Duc Jean offers students of Museum Studies, Curatorial Studies, or Art History the opportunity to gain experience in a professional environment by joining its Artistic Programme and Content department. Working closely with the curators, you will belong to the team responsible for designing and implementing the exhibitions programme, special projects, and presentations of the Collection, within one of the most dynamic European museums of contemporary art.
Your Mission
Under the supervision of the curator responsible for exhibitions, and in liaison with the other curators and assistant curators, you will be directly involved in the preparation of the museum’s artistic programme, which includes exhibitions, presentations of the Collection, performances, public events, and special projects. You will work in collaboration with the registrars, technicians, and Publics teams and in liaison with the museum’s other departments and external contacts, such as artists and galleries.
This internship will offer you the possibility to deepen your practical and theoretical knowledge of art being created today and on the role of curators within a contemporary art museum. You will notably be involved in the preparation of the exhibition Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing. 1960–1991, which examines the first three decades of digital art from a feminist perspective through the works of around thirty artists, as well as several exhibitions programmed for 2025. You will benefit from a working environment that facilitates learning and exchange, as well as valuable professional experience for the development of your curatorial career.

Duties and Tasks
- Conducting research
- Participation in the editing of mediating texts
- Participation in creating exhibition checklists and installation plans
- Contacting artists, lenders, partner institutions, etc.
- Preparation for and participation in meetings with the different departments and services of the museum
- Participation in the preparation of exhibition catalogues
- Participation in the preparation, planning and realisation of performances and public programmes
Your Profile
We are seeking someone open and enthusiastic with exceptional organisational skills. As a candidate you recognise yourself in this description and are:
- A current Master’s student of Curatorial Studies, Museum Studies, Art History, Cultural Studies or Fine Art
- Passionate about contemporary art and general culture
- Equipped with strong editorial and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in French and English. Knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish is considered a plus
- A team player and collaborative worker
- Thorough, meticulous and committed
