Perry Its never too late 2

My Civilisation

Grayson Perry

Winner of the Turner Prize in 2003, Grayson Perry is particularly known for his traditionally shaped vases, ornamented with various elements like drawings, photographs, decorative motives and writings. Far from a conventional iconography, the scenes depicted by Grayson Perry astonish and provoke by their strangeness. The artist enjoys to hustle the social codes through the development of a whimsical, often chaotic, universe. In this universe images of news items and public scandals, details of historical events, autobiographical elements, more or less direct sexual evocations and subjective considerations on society, social conventions and behaviors, or on the mechanisms of the art world, adjoin.
The exhibition shows the evolution in Grayson Perry’s work in the last two decades and presents a unique collection of potteries, sculptures and etchings.

Exhibition co-organised by 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, and Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Mudam Luxembourg, initiated by Emiko Yoshioka, curator at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. With the collaboration of Victoria Miro Gallery, London.
