Founded in 2021 as a joint initiative between multi-entrepreneur Norbert Becker and Mudam Luxembourg, and its then director, Suzanne Cotter, the Cercle des collectionneurs du Mudam Luxembourg is a dynamic community of contemporary art enthusiasts.
Its mission is to provide support to Mudam in the following ways:
- Enriching the Mudam Collection by acquiring significant works of contemporary art
- Creating a unique and dynamic community of collectors and art enthusiasts in Luxembourg
- Providing financial support to ensure the museum’s long-term growth and success
- Inspiring future generations by encouraging philanthropic engagement
As of 2024, the Cercles des collectionneurs du Mudam consists of forty active members. Norbert Becker serves as its founding president, with the support of Christiane O’Donnell as vice president.

Our Achievements

Since its inception, the Cercle des collectionneurs has made tangible contributions to the acquisition of significant works for Mudam’s collection.
In 2021–22
Support for the acquisition of a major work by artist Michel Majerus.
This work marked a shift in scale compared to the artist’s previous pieces. It consists of seven painted panels arranged along the curved edge of a metallic quarter-circle base.
In 2023–24
Support for the donation of an ensemble of nineteen works from the collection of Gaby and Willhelm Schürmann, one of Germany’s most important collections.
