Taking the installation territory – partially exhibited at Mudam Luxembourg – as a starting point, the discussion will unfold about the artist’s practice, with the idea of “chimerical contamination” as a red thread. Articulating industrial waste, anthropomorphic details and natural elements, the artist’s works seem to contaminate each other, thus creating contemporary chimeras.

Through her manual intervention, she alters the seriality of manufactured objects resulting from mass production or of common species. Giulia Cenci (1988, Cortone) graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, IT (2007-2012), received a Master of Fine Arts at St.Joost Academy, Den Bosch-Breda, NL (2013-2015) and she took part in deAteliers residency, Amsterdam, NL (2015-2017). Daria de Beauvais is senior curator at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), where she is co-curator of the collective exhibitions Antibodies (2020) and Future, Former, Fugitive (2019). With Palais de Tokyo’s curatorial team she curated the 15th Lyon Biennale, Where Water Comes Together with Other Water (2019). Previously, her experience has included work with institutions (the Biennale and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice; the Museum of Modern Art and Independent Curators International in New York) and private galleries (Zlotowski, Paris; Alessandra Bonomo, Rome; Lili Marleen, New York). She is also a freelance curator (Paris, Rotterdam, and Chicago). She regularly sits on various committees and juries, writes for several magazines and publications and teaches at the university Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. In 2019, Daria de Beauvais has invited Giulia Cenci to participate in Young International Creation at the Institut d’art contemporain Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes in parallel of the 15th Lyon Biennale and has written about her work in CURA. magazine.
