Giulia Cenci

Collection presentation

Mudam Luxembourg presents recent works by Giulia Cenci acquired for the museum's collection with the support of the Baloise Group. This display is the first institutional solo presentation by Cenci, winner of the Baloise Art Prize, 2019.

Four sculptures by Giulia Cenci are presented in the autumn of 2020. Found objects or elements, such as fragments of an engine, tree branches or a cast taken from part of a wolf’s body are combined with various industrial materials such as metal, polyurethane resin, epoxy clay, foam, grease or dust from the artist’s workshop. Through an elaborate process raw materials, found objects and sculpted elements are transformed and merged together producing objects that amalgamate organic and mechanical forms. This series of hybrid sculptures is part of Territory, an installation composed of numerous individual works that unfurl chaotically and invade the space, evoking dynamic, animated entities.
