Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, is seeking an Exhibition registrar.

Opened in 2006 in a purpose-built building designed by the renowned Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, Mudam is located in the Park Draï Eechelen overlooking the historic city of Luxembourg. Mudam’s mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of the most relevant art of our times for the largest possible public through its collection, temporary exhibitions, programmes, and partnerships. The programme, which is multi-disciplinary in nature, includes between 6 to 8 temporary exhibitions of varying scales each year alongside changing collection displays, commissioned projects, and a programme of sculptural interventions in the grounds of the museum.

Mudam Luxembourg is seeking an Exhibition Registrar to join their team. Working to the Head Registrar and in close collaboration with the Exhibition curators, the Exhibition registrars are responsible for:

  • Production, installation and maintenance of the exhibitions.
  • Administration of artworks loaned by museums, galleries, private collectors and artists.
  • Managing the production of artworks in liaison with artists and their representatives.
  • Logistical organisation (transport, insurance, etc).
  • Condition-checking artworks (including archiving digital documentation).
  • Monitoring and maintenance of exhibitions: developing technical manuals, monitoring environmental conditions, servicing technical devices and ensuring that artworks are properly maintained and conserved.
  • Handling and installation of artworks in accordance with exhibition plans.

Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years experience within a public institution handling exhibitions of contemporary art.
  • Proficiency in exhibition administration including.
  • Knowledge of the procedure for administrating loans.
  • Installing /dismounting Exhibitions.
  • Transporting artworks.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and the international art network.
  • Writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Working languages: French and English. A working knowledge of German or Luxembourgish is also an advantage.
  • Computer literacy including a working knowledge of MS Office, databases, graphics and 3D modelling softwares.
  • Rigorous attention to detail, engaged and committed approach.
  • Flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Clean driving licence.
