‘A votive offering or votive deposit is one or more objects displayed or deposited, without the intention of recovery or use, in a sacred place for religious purposes. Such items are a feature of modern and ancient societies and are generally made in order to gain favour with supernatural forces.’
In this workshop, gobyfish will guide you through creating your own votive. What do you want to give up? What do you want to let go of? And what would you like to bring back to life? This exploration can be personal or collective.
With gobyfish’s help, learn how to create your own votives using chocolate, butter and salt dough. Each participant can take one votive home and contribute one to the final installation of gobyfish’s residency at Mudam if they wish.
