Join us for a workshop where we’ll use Naqsh, a traditional art of ornamentation popular in Central Asia, to share our personal stories in a space of hospitality and self-acceptance created by Faina Yunusova. Starting with an account of the legend of Naqsh and a memory of her parents who rejected their Uzbek origins and language, Yunusova will invite the participants to tell their stories by ornamenting ceramic plates. Despite its decorative appearance, Naqsh has a rich history of transmitting stories and cultural memory. Let’s reactivate this powerful tool and explore our own uniqueness and strength.
