To accompany American artist and composer Ari Benjamin Meyers’s new immersive performance for Mudam Luxembourg, Mudam Publics invites you to this creative Drop in! on climate activism.
Ari Benjamin Meyers’s new performance explores the concept of power and surveillance using the Hemicycle, the former seat of the European Parliament as a symbolic venue for his immersive work. Steeped in European history, the Hemicycle was built to hold plenary sittings until 1981.
The performance starts with an examination of the unpredictability of the weather and the human tendency to seek control and domination over the natural world. Meyers’s work aims to reflect on the increasingly alarming and unbalanced relationship between humans and nature, and its impact on our planet’s future.
As part of this experience, you will have the opportunity to design and create your own protest signs reflecting your ideas and messages regarding climate activism. In addition, we also invite you to bring signs previously used in actual demonstrations. As the performance is set in an off-site venue, the signs will be used to mark the way to the performance, adding to the impact of the event.
