In hindsight, one promise of the information economy remains correct: the transformations due to the rise of digital technologies disrupt the very foundations of capitalism, and destabilises its basic principles. But, where a techno-entrepreneurial optimism promised an overall makeover to the best, the current course of events rather reveals a deep degeneration. In the age of algorithms, wealth no longer comes from production, but from control and predacity.
