Cy Twombly (1928, Lexington – 2011, Rome) realisierte in einem Bereich zwischen Zeichnung und Kritzelei Werke, die von Spontaneität gekennzeichnet sind. Die Expressivität der Motive von Natural History Part II: Some Trees of Italy (1975–1976) verleiht dem Ganzen eine lyrische Dimension.
