Contracted internship, 6 months starting in june 2023, full time (40 hours/week)

Founded in 2006, in a building designed by the internationally renowned architect Ieoh Minh Pei, Mudam is the museum of contemporary art of Luxembourg. Our mission is to collect, conserve, and present the most relevant contemporary art of our time, and make it accessible to a wide audience. We strive to be a leading player in the promotion and understanding of contemporary art by way of our exhibitions, publications, and artistic and educational public programmes.

Located in Europe, in the heart of a cosmopolitan country comprising no less than 179 nationalities, we wish to address all of these communities and to prioritise their access to contemporary art. It is important to us for the museum to be a living and discursive space where questions concerning our contemporary society may be tackled and debated. Mentored by the Curator of Performance and Moving Image, this internship offers the opportunity to closely follow the development and delivery of performances, exhibitions and special projects. This internship will be an opportunity to deepen your practical and theoretical knowledge of the art world and of the role of curator within a museum of contemporary art. You will gain insight about the process of performance and exhibition-making, benefit from a work environment that facilitates learning and exchange and gain valuable professional experience for the development of your career in the field of contemporary art.


Under the supervision of the Curator of Performance and Moving Image in close collaboration with the Curatorial and the Publics Department, you will support the development and delivery of the museum’s artistic programme which includes performance and special projects. You will work closely with the museum’s teams of Registrars, Technicians and Public Engagement and alongside other departments and external partners, including artists and galleries.

Candidates should be keen to learn with an enthusiastic, ‘can do’ approach. You should be committed to working hard and have excellent attention to detail. Applications should demonstrate an ambition to work within the visual art sector and make clear how this opportunity will help you achieve your professional goals.

Activities and tasks:

  • Research
  • Preparing interpretative texts
  • Supporting the development of exhibition, performance and special projects’ checklists and plans
  • Liaising with artists, galleries, lenders, partner institutions, etc.
  • Preparing and attending meetings with various members of staff
  • Preparing dossiers and related presentations
  • Supporting the preparation, detailed planning and delivery of performance and public programmes events

Profil :

  • Graduate student in the fields of curatorial studies, art history, fine arts, dance, cultural studies or related field
  • Passionate about contemporary art and culture
  • Demonstrated knowledge in project management
  • Editorial skills in French and English
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Being detail oriented and structure is a must.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Fluency in French and English. A working knowledge of German or Luxembourgish is also an advantage
