Alexandre Humbert
The Mudam invited designer-film-maker Alexandre Humbert to respond to the installations, drawing upon the museum’s collection. Humbert chose the pieces of furniture designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto for the iconic Sanatorium Paimio in Finland because of their legendary, timeless eloquence. The viewer’s gaze is drawn through a door frame. The camera pans the room, zooming in on details of the furniture. Depending on their positioning and lighting, the same components tell different stories about the life and the state of mind of the patient who temporarily occupied the room.
